You don't have a soul—you are a soul! Everyone has heard about the soul; but most people don't really have a good understanding of the soul. That causes all kinds of trouble because the soul—the conscious living force—is who we really are. An ontology is a reality map: a conceptual guide to categories of meaning, being or reality. This short course covers the basics of ontology prerequisite to the study of transcendental ontology (Transontology).
Vedic Astrology is based on a detailed understanding of naked-eye observational astronomy. Astronomy is highly developed in Vedic culture, and it is essential for astrologers to have an intuitive grasp of the astronomical concepts and relationships underlying Jyotish. This course introduces the Vedic astronomical system that forms the basis of Jyotish. The Vedic calendar is not based on clock time, but on the natural motions of the sun and moon. Therefore it is a reliable predictor of the seasons, weather and many other phenomena. The Vedic Astrological science of Muhurta or the election of auspicious timings for activities is based on the Vedic calendar system. Therefore every competent Vedic astrologer must be familiar with the Vedic Calendar.
An introductory course on Vedic Astrology open to advanced students by invitation only. It covers Chapters 1 and 2 of Parasara Muni's Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra. This course is for students who are following Babaji's instructions and have already understood the principles of Bhagavad-gitaand other Vedic scriptures. You must contact Babaji to enroll for this course. The Jyotish course continues with Chapters 4 and 5 of Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra describing the twelve Rāśis or astrological signs as the bodily limbs of the Kālapuruṣa, Lord Viṣṇu's manifestation as the universal time potency. Rāśis are the second major pillar of the temple of Jyotish. The Jyotish course continues with Chapter 6 of Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra,describing the sixteen divisional charts or Vargas which divide the Rāśis or astrological signs into various sections for finer analysis of the astrological chart. Vargas are the third major pillar of Jyotish. The Jyotish course continues with Chapter 7 and 8 of Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra, describing how to evaluate the sixteen Divisional Charts or Vargas, which divide the Rāśis or astrological signs into various sections for finer analysis of the astrological chart. Vargas are the third major pillar of the temple of Jyotish. This section also covers Chapter 8, Rāśi Dṛṣṭis. The Jyotish course continues with Chapters 9 and 10 of Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra, describing the evil afflictions that can cause infant death and shorten the lifespan, as well as the fortunate blessings that confer freedom from all evils. The Jyotish course continues with Chapters 11-23 of Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra, describing the significance of the twelve Bhavas or Houses, which signify various matters in the astrological chart. Bhavas are the fourth major pillar of the temple of Jyotish. The Jyotish course continues with Chapters 25 and 26 of Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra. Vedic Astrology recognizes several non-luminous planets that nevertheless can profoundly affect our lives. And instead of aspects, since planets are considered to be persons ( devas or demigods), they can see ( dṛṣṭi) one another. This seeing of the planets carries important influences that affect the interpretation of the chart. The Jyotish course continues with Chapters 27 and 28 of Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra. The planetary positions and configurations discussed so far are all tempered by the strength of the planets and signs concerned. Vedic Astrology includes sophisticated mathematical methods of evaluating the strength (Bāla) of every position. The Jyotish course continues with Chapters 31 through 34 from Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra, describing Argala and the various Kārakas found in the chart, and their effects. The Jyotish course continues with Chapters 35 through 42 of Brhat Parasara Hora Sastra, describing the many types of Yogas and planetary combinations producing various results related to wealth.
